Upgrading Our Locksmith Service Truck with Milwaukee Packouts

I’m Terry from Mr. Locksmith, and today we’re excited to share the journey of upgrading one of our locksmith service trucks. This truck, despite being traditionally organized, has turned into a chaotic mess due to our growing business demands. We’ll be revamping it into a more efficient workspace with the help of Milwaukee Packout drawers. This blog post will walk you through our renovation process, from gutting the truck to the final organization overhaul.

The Milwaukee Packout Project Begins

Our goal is simple: maximize space and accessibility. We’ll be installing about eight drawers in our locksmith truck, perhaps even more, to tackle the clutter of tiny parts and tools. This service truck has been incredibly busy, and it’s time to give it the organization overhaul it desperately needs.

Throughout this weekend, we’ll gut the truck and introduce the new setup. Just a note—none of these products were sponsored; we purchased everything ourselves, albeit at some special discounted rates.

Tackling the Mess

As many of you might guess, keeping a busy service truck organized is a challenge. It was well-organized when we got it, but as time went by, the constant influx of work took its toll. Now, we’re ready for a big reorganization, and we’ve chosen the Milwaukee Packouts, which we already love using in our shop.

Traditionally, locksmiths work off a little workbench placed at the back of their vehicle. We realized that we’re consistently working out of the back rather than inside. So, enhancing the rear workspace was a no-brainer for us.

Key Components of the Milwaukee Packout Upgrade

One challenge we face regularly is dealing with dead car batteries. We carry about three jump boxes in our truck, and some days, we need all three. These jump boxes and our Honda generator will find a new, efficient home in the revamped space. We’ve invested in higher-quality jump boxes and now have the perfect setup to accommodate them.

Take a look inside—it’s clear the truck was due for an upgrade. We’re removing the old shelving and back bench to make space for the new Packouts.

Installation and Initial Feedback

We’re just getting started with installing the Packouts, but we can already see a massive increase in storage space. The key machines will sit on top of the new shelving units, making it easier to access everything we need.

After some weeks of using the Milwaukee Packouts, we’re thrilled with the results. The shelving units are fantastic, and the project is still ongoing. We’re even considering converting the entire van to Packouts and going 100% Milwaukee for future service trucks.

Looking Forward: More Upgrades

In addition to this van, we have plans for a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that will also feature Milwaukee Packouts from the get-go. This GMC van has become a perfect test case, and we’re extremely satisfied with the outcome. The organization of our tools, keys, and equipment has never been better.

Fine-Tuning the Milwaukee Packout Setup

Organizing drawers with three-tier and four-tier systems has given us flexibility and security. Our stock of automotive remotes, proxies, and keys is now through the roof. Although we still use some old equipment like our 40-year-old key duplicator, we’ve upgraded other tools like the Triton Plus, and both setups have integrated seamlessly into our new system. Custom metal plates have also been crucial in our update. Instead of the standard Milwaukee plates, which were a bit large, we had narrower metal plates custom-made to fit perfectly in the back of the truck. This customization has allowed for a more efficient layout, and everything fits like a glove.

Ongoing Milwaukee Packout Improvements

We’ve decked out the back and passenger side with Milwaukee’s solutions, still housing all our mechanical keys and various transponders. The versatility of these drawer systems means we can easily reorganize and adapt our storage as we grow or as our needs change. We’re considering a full upgrade of the remaining walls to completely utilize Milwaukee packouts, possibly opting for a mix of three-drawer and four-drawer configurations to maximize versatility.

Conclusion Transforming Our Locksmith Van with Milwaukee Packouts

In summary, the Milwaukee Packout system upgrade has surpassed our expectations. We not only tackled the chaos in our current truck but are also looking forward to implementing these solutions in all of our future service trucks from the beginning. With the increased storage space, improved organization, and ease of access, our operations have become much smoother.

We couldn’t be happier with the Milwaukee Packouts and are excited to see how this transformation will support our continued growth. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to revolutionize our locksmith service trucks with Milwaukee Packouts.

Final Thoughts

Getting organized has never been this satisfying. Whether you’re running a locksmith business or another mobile service, upgrading your workspace with efficient storage solutions can significantly boost productivity and reduce stress. If you’re thinking about a similar upgrade, consider giving Milwaukee Packouts a try—they might just change the way you work.
