My Most-Used Lishi Picks for Everyday Locksmith Work
When it comes to daily locksmith jobs, having the right tools makes all the difference. One set of tools I absolutely rely on every single day is my collection of Lishi picks. Whether I’m handling residential lockouts or rekeys, these picks are my go-to choices.
Most Popular Lishi Picks I Use Every Day
- SC1 (5-pin Schlage keyway): This is my bread-and-butter pick. I use the SC1 multiple times a day, so much that I always carry a spare SC1 Lishi pick and extra parts to rebuild it if necessary.
- SC4 (6-pin Schlage keyway): Another essential pick, especially when dealing with 6-pin Schlage locks. I also keep a backup SC4 handy.
- SC4-L (Left-Handed 6-pin Schlage): Perfect for those tricky left-handed locks that you occasionally run into.
- SC20 (Schlage L Series): Designed for “L” key blanks, this Lishi pick is a must-have when servicing commercial Schlage locks. It also works on E, F, and CE keyways.
- C123 and S123 Picks: These are excellent for the new Everett models and some of the more difficult-to-pick keyways. Having the right pick makes a tough job much easier.
- KW1 (5-pin Kwikset keyway): Another everyday tool for me. Like the SC1, the KW1 sees constant use, so I keep spares ready.
- KW5 (6-pin Kwikset keyway): Useful for tackling those occasional 6-pin Kwikset locks.

Why These Lishi Picks Are Essential
In a typical day, the SC1, SC4, and KW1 Lishi picks get the most action. They’re incredibly effective, quick to use, and durable enough to handle heavy daily work. Having reliable Lishi picks means faster lockouts, smoother rekeys, and happier customers.
Plus, by keeping spares and rebuild kits handy, I minimize downtime if a tool ever gets worn out during a busy day.

Lock picking can be a bit daunting, especially when you’re dealing with a variety of locks. However, having the right set of picks can make a significant difference. Here’s a look at the picks that have become staples in my toolkit:
Lishi SC1: The Five-Pin Wonder
One of the most frequently used picks in my collection is the five pin SC1. It’s a versatile tool that works on many locks, and due to its frequent use, I always keep a few spares at hand. Its effectiveness makes it an indispensable part of my everyday toolkit.
Lishi SC4: The Versatile Six-Pin Pick
Another favorite of mine is the SC4, which is tailored for six-pin locks. It’s great for dealing with more complex locks, providing the precision needed for a wide range of lock types.
The Lishi for Kwikset Locks
For quickset locks, the KW1 and the KW5 are my go-to picks. They offer the reliability and durability needed for tackling both five and six-pin locks. Just like the SC1, I keep backup parts for the KW1 due to how often I use it.

Emergency Lockout with Lishi Picks
When it comes to emergency lockouts, speed and precision are critical. As locksmiths, having the right tools on hand can make the difference between a smooth, fast unlock or a long, frustrating job. One of the best tools in my kit for emergency lockouts? Lishi picks.
Why Lishi Picks Are Essential for Emergency Mobile Locksmith Lockouts
Lishi picks have revolutionized the way locksmiths handle vehicle and residential lockouts. Originally designed for automotive locks, they’ve expanded into residential and commercial applications. The beauty of Lishi picks is that they allow you to both pick and decode a lock quickly and non-destructively, which is perfect for emergencies.
For emergency lockouts, I use my SC1, SC4, and KW1 Lishi picks every single day. They’re so critical to my work that I keep spare picks and rebuild kits ready to go.
How Lishi Picks Save Time During Lockouts
Using a Lishi pick can cut down your lockout time dramatically. Instead of drilling, bumping, or raking blindly, you can feel and map the pins precisely, leading to faster, cleaner openings. Plus, decoding the lock gives you valuable information if you need to cut a key later.
Pro Tip: Always practice with your Lishi picks on practice locks before heading out to real-world lockouts. Speed and confidence come from muscle memory and experience.
