DIY Lock Pick Case Using the Veto Pro Pac SC45

As a working locksmith, I’m always looking for better ways to organize the tools I actually use every day—especially my lock picks. Recently, I decided to turn the Veto Pro Pac SC45 into a dedicated DIY lock pick case, and right off the bat, this thing impressed me.
Magnetic, Modular, and Surprisingly Versatile
The first thing you notice is how the pouch comes apart. The front panel is held on with strong magnets and simply pulls off. That might not sound like a big deal, but it opens up a ton of options. I can clip it onto my Veto bags, other tool bags, or even non-Veto setups—it really doesn’t matter what brand you use.
The clip system is solid and well thought out. It attaches cleanly to belts, tool pouches, or bags, and when you want to remove it, it comes off just as easily. That’s what gave me the idea to convert this into a dedicated lock pick case.

Opens Flat, Stays Controlled
When you unzip the SC45, it initially opens just a bit—but you can pull it open and lay it flat. Inside, there are lots of small compartments and attachment points, which is perfect for locksmith tools. Picks, tension wrenches, shims, small lights—everything has a place.
What really stands out is the removable internal board system. These panels pop out completely, and you can buy different accessory boards depending on how you want to configure your setup. This makes it ideal for building a customized pick kit. If I want to double up panels or swap them out later, I can.
One feature I really like: when I load this with picks, the controlled opening means it doesn’t flop wide open. I can unzip it, grab the pick I need, and keep working without everything spilling out.
Pocket, Belt, or Bag—Your Choice
Another bonus is flexibility. If I want, I can pull the entire insert out and drop it straight into my pocket. Or clip it onto my belt. Or mount it back onto a larger tool bag. That kind of adaptability is exactly what you want for residential and commercial lockouts where speed matters.
Built for Daily Use
The SC45 feels rugged, with a firm back panel and quality zippers. It also comes with a 5-year warranty, which says a lot about how confident the manufacturer is in the build quality. I’ve owned multiple Veto bags over the years, and they’ve taken serious abuse in the field.
My Plan Going Forward
I’m in the process of fully converting this into my everyday pick case. It’ll hold all the tools I use for basic residential and commercial openings—nothing excessive, just the gear I actually reach for on lockouts. Once it’s fully set up, I’ll do a follow-up and show exactly what goes inside and how I’m using it day to day.
For locksmiths who want a compact, modular, and professional way to carry their pick tools, this setup makes a lot of sense. Simple, smart, and built for real-world work—just the way I like it.
