Emergency Lockout Challenge: Ever seen a Weiser lock with an Abloy insert? Check out my latest Emergency Locksmith challenge and how I handled it! I encountered a Weiser lock with an Abloy High Security Cylinder, a ProTac model that’s impossible to pick. Watch as I explain why drilling the mounting screws is the only option for this lockout situation.

Emergency Lockout Challenge

Lockouts can be a frustrating experience, especially when you’re faced with a more complicated lock mechanism than expected. In this post, I’ll walk you through my recent encounter with a lockout situation that turned out to involve a Weiser lock with an Abloy insert.

Navigating a Difficult Lockout

Recently, I was called to handle a lockout. I was informed that the lock in question was a Weiser, which usually isn’t a big deal. However, upon closer inspection, I discovered that this particular Weiser lock had an Abloy High Cylinder insert. This is where the situation took an unexpected turn.

Abloy High Security Lock

Weiser locks are generally straightforward to handle, but the presence of an Abloy insert complicates matters significantly. Abloy locks are well-known for their high level of security and are specifically designed to be difficult to pick. The type of insert used was similar to a ProTac, making my usual lock-picking tools and methods ineffective.

Lockout Dilemma: Drilling Necessary

Given the sophisticated nature of the Abloy High Security Locks insert, I realized that picking the lock wasn’t going to be an option. After assessing the situation, I concluded that the only viable solution was to drill the mounting screws. This method, although unfortunate, was necessary to resolve the lockout without causing more extensive damage to the door or lock mechanism.

Overcoming a Lock Picking Obstacle

Lockout situations can vary greatly depending on the type of lock you encounter. While some locks are relatively straightforward to pick or manipulate, others like the Abloy insert can present a significant challenge, requiring alternative bypass methods.
